Like on the topic I would prefer Jon to use: a) Slash for rock songs b) Santana for slow ballad c) David Keuning (The Killers) and Phil X for rest parts of guitars

If Richie won't be there I'd definetly go for Phil X. Not that I adore the guy, but he has toured with the band, he learned to play the songs respectfully to the way they are on the album. Somehow I think he gets the Bon Jovi sound, and even though he won't shine in any sense I'm sure he'd do the job Jon wants him to do. Bringing in a totally different guitar player won't make any sense. Stick to the family, and Phil X is the closest to the Bon Jovi family if Richie chooses not to be there.

I'm interested to hear what an album with Phil's input would sound like, but if he's playing on it he's probably just being told what/how to play.
I can't imagine Slash and Santana wanting to be on the record, let alone being asked.

My choice is obviously Keith Urban.
A. He's amazing. B. He can play any style and pretty much any instrument. C. He can certainly fit in with Bon Jovi's sound. D. He's always been in demand as a guest guitarist on other people's songs and he's willing to play guitar (banjo, etc) without doing also doing vocals even though he's a great vocalist. But appearing as a guitarist on someone else's albums is something he actually does pretty frequently so it's not just a pipe dream. C. He could do background vocals if needed. E. He's humble enough to be "just the guitarist." Before he was an established solo artist, he was the road guitarist for Brooks & Dunn. He appeared on Charlie Daniels' "live" CD and Garth Brooks "live" CD. Off the top of my head, I can remember that he's played for Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks, and Jason Derulo as well. He's done many others. I don't have his discography memorized.
Of course, it will never happen. He's way too busy and in demand. But it would be amazing!

My vote goes to Phil of course. I'm a fan of the guy, he knows how to get the Bon Jovi sound and has a really varied resume that proves he's a guitar player that plays for the song, what the songs need and what the artists and producers ask of him. He played on What do you Got so, I really doubt him being there would add any more "rock" to the songs than what they would already have. I'd like for him to be involved more in the actual arranging of the songs but that won't happen so....

I'd love to have Phil on the new album and to tour with them next year. He's such a great guitar player and also a really nice guy. :-) But Keith Urban would be a dream, too. :-) I really love Keith and it would be amazing to have him with Bon Jovi. :-)

Keith Urban is not a bad call when you think about it and that would be something I would be interested to see and hear (even if I'm not exactly a fan of his). Not going to happen though... I've seen the band with Phil X and although he's pretty good he doesn't quite have the charisma that would be needed in my opinion. So I'd like to see somebody else filling the spot. But who? I don't really know... Jeff Beck?

Really interesting question. Pretty hard to answer. I don't see a big name next to Jon. That would take away to much spotlight, I don't think he's willing to share it. Phil X did a great job live, it would be interesting to see how much input he'd be able to give a new record. But then appears also the question how much space Jon will give a new guitarist to be creative in the songs. If you really want Richie to be replaced and don't lose anything from the BJ sound, you need a guitarist who also has his roots in the blues. But this could also be the chance to get a new, fresh sound. Pretty tough! It all depends on Jon's vision for a band without Richie.
